Sustainability Episode of Project Runway NYC Filmed at Royal Waste Services, Inc.

For Season 16, Project Runway partnered with Royal Waste Services, Inc. to film an episode about sustainable fashion. After visiting several top New York recycling companies and their respective facilities, Project Runway found that Royal Waste was the best partner to help spread the message of sustainability in the episode, An Unconventional Recycling.

According to John Reali of Royal Waste, “We were thrilled when we learned we had been selected. When you get the opportunity to work with Project Runway with this message, you jump on it.”

The Project Runway episode challenged designers to work with a team to create clothing from recycled materials found at Royal Waste. “The piles of recyclables that contestants sorted through on the show had been picked up from customers only a few hours before. Materials that our customers chose to recycle now lived on to become sustainable clothing,” said John.

According to John, “Sustainability shapes every decision we make at Royal Waste, so it was amazing to see recycling and sustainability brought to life on such a scale with Project Runway. The episode does a great job showing the extent of how much of the materials we utilize on a daily basis can be recycled and re-used to become new products wherever possible. We are just so glad that Project Runway gave this message a platform”
